Ladies Section

Welcome to the Ladies Section of Minchinhampton Golf Club

We are quite a large Section of over 250 with at least two-thirds of us golfing regularly. As a result we are very aware of the need for variety to keep all our members happy and involved. The Ladies Committee works very hard to maintain a fixture list that includes fun and serious competition, while ensuring that new members and beginners will be welcomed and happily integrated.

We try to strike a balance between Qualifying competitions during the playing season and a mix of Non-Qualifying, Team and Pairs competitions throughout the year, together with several special Ladies’ Days which involve a Lunch. We also take part in County, Regional and National competitions. We alternate between sign-up lists and draws to bring our members together and make it easier for new members to join in. Our principal Ladies’ competitions day is a Tuesday while Business/Weekend Ladies’ Qualifiers can be either Saturday or Sunday, and weekday players and weekenders can take part in each others competitions as the need arises. Competition sign-up sheets are posted on Mondays, up to four weeks in advance and we run a ‘pay-in-advance’ credit system for most entry fees.

Matches are normally held on Mondays and we field 3 Silver teams in the Cotswold & District Ladies Golf Alliance, play Bronze Friendly matches, and also a series of Social matches - giving our ladies plenty of interaction with other Clubs in and around Gloucestershire. Mixed inter-club matches and competitions, and matches with the other Sections of the Club complete the social scene.

The Ladies Section Competitions and Matches are in the Club’s Fixture List and are open to all Lady and Junior Girl members who hold a valid handicap certificate. A series of Taster Days and Beginners’ Etiquette and Course Management Mornings are also held during the playing season.

The Ladies Locker-Room is the Information Centre for the Section with notice boards on every aspect of our golfing lives: from Competitions, Matches and Handicaps to County, EWGA and Social matters. If you have any queries please contact the relevant member of the Ladies Committee and she will be very pleased to help you
