Long hitters will wish to take on the bunkers from the tee and aim to get home with a precision second. Otherwise aim for the right hand bunker and play a tee shot of around 220 yards. Follow this up with a second to leave you short of the bunker guarding the right side of the green.
Insider's View
Here we are standing on the Cherington first tee, full of anticipation of what the round might bring. Between the bunkers is the line but straighter or longer hitters might want to flirt with the left hand bunker. For your second shot beware of the cross bunker 100 yards short of the green, so keep left or short if you can't make the carry. The approach is to a big green with pleasant views across the Gatcombe Estate towards Nailsworth ![]()
